Four Trends in Membrane Switching Power Supply Technology Today
Today's four major trends in membrane switching power supply technology: power supply technology has always been one of the most important technology areas for electronic circuit research, and switching power supply technology is also the main technology in power supply technology. The following technical article, which was transferred, can well illustrate some of the recent advances in switching power supply technology in recent years.
First, the rapid development of non-isolated DC/DC technology
In recent years, non-isolated DC/DC technology has developed rapidly. At present, a set of electronic equipment or electronic systems may require the power system to provide multiple voltage barriers due to different loads. For example, the desktop PC requires four voltages of +12V, +5V, +3.3V, and -12V, and a standby voltage of +5V. The motherboard requires 2.5V, 1.8V, 1.5V, or even 1V. A set of AC/DCs cannot give such a large number of voltage outputs, and most low-voltage supply currents are large, so many non-isolated DC/DCs have been developed and they can basically be divided into two major categories. One type contains power switching elements internally, called DC/DC converters. The other type does not include a power switch and requires an external power MOSFET called a DC/DC controller. According to circuit functions, there are step-down STEP-DOWN, boost BOOST, and BUCK-BOOST or SEPIC that can step up and down, as well as INVERTOR which converts positive pressure into negative voltage. One of the most varieties, the fastest-growing step-down STEP-DOWN. According to the size of the output current, it is divided into single-phase, two-phase and multi-phase. PWM is the main control method, and a small part is PFM.
In non-isolated DC/DC conversion technology, TI's pre-detection gate drive technology adopts digital technology to control synchronous BUCK. The DC/DC conversion efficiency of this technology can reach 97%, of which TPS40071 is its representative product. BOOST boost mode also appeared in synchronous BOOST products using MOSFET instead of diode. In the low voltage area, there is a great increase in efficiency, and efforts are being made to further eliminate the issue of conduction and reverse recovery of the MOSFET body diode.
Second, the membrane switch power supply blows digital horn
At present, in the entire electronic analog circuit system, television, audio equipment, photo processing, communication, and networking have gradually been digitized, and the last fortress without digitization is the power supply field. In recent years, research on digital power has continued unabated, and more and more achievements have been made. Companies that are ahead of power digitalization include TI and Microchip. TI company has both DSP advantages, but also merged PWM IC professional manufacturer UNITRODE company, the company has used the TMS320C28F10 made a communication with the 48V output high power power supply module, which PFC and PWM part is completely digital control. Now, TI has developed a variety of digital PWM control chips. At present, UCD7000 series, UCD8000 series and UCD9000 series are the main products. They will become the pathfinder for the next generation of digital power supply. They generally include both hardware and software programming. The hardware part includes the logic part of PWM, clock, analog-to-digital conversion of the amplifier loop, digital-to-analog conversion and digital processing, driving, detection and processing of synchronous rectification.
At present, the competition in the power field is mainly the competition of performance and price, so digital power still has a long way to go, but the digital horn of the power supply field has already sounded.
